Vappu Pimiä’s lunch for 5,99 euros – Ruokaboksi opens its first pop-up restaurant in Helsinki
Ruokaboksi is opening its first pop-up restaurant in Helsinki on 27–28 August. For two days, you can enjoy ready-made dishes designed by Vappu Pimiä on Iso Roobertinkatu – each lunch dish costs only 5.99 euros.
Ruokaboksi is known as a service that delivers chef-designed recipes and the required pre-portioned ingredients to your home. Now, for the first time, the same idea is moving from home kitchens to a restaurant: good food made from high-quality ingredients belongs in everyday life and should be easy to access.
Vappu Pimiä’s favourites, ready for lunch
At the Ruokaboksi Pop Up, you can taste a menu designed by Vappu Pimiä. Three different dishes are available:
Warm-smoked salmon, potatoes and marinated vegetables
Larb moo – minced pork and rice
Roasted tofu, oven-roasted root vegetables and mushroom sauce
“For me, good food means using the best seasonal ingredients and being able to enjoy cooking even on busy weekdays. For this menu, I have selected some of my own favourites that I also enjoy cooking at home,” says Vappu Pimiä, one of the founders of Ruokaboksi.
The menu brings together the familiar flavours and high-quality ingredients that Yummy is known for. The choices focus on sustainability, seasonal produce and supporting Finnish producers. Yummy works with producers across Finland.

Each portion costs 5,99 euros. The price reflects the idea at the heart of Ruokaboksi: delicious food designed by chefs and made from high-quality ingredients should be accessible to as many people as possible.
“At the heart of Ruokaboksi is the idea that good food belongs in everyday life. We want to show in practice that chef-designed recipes, Finnish ingredients and delicious results can be accessible to everyone,” says Juhana Rintala, CEO and co-founder of Ruokaboksi.
Lunch with the kids too
We want to make it as easy as possible for the whole family to visit the pop-up restaurant. A childcare provider is available during lunch, so parents can focus on their meal if they wish while the children have fun safely nearby.
“For many families with children, even the thought of a peaceful restaurant lunch can feel like a luxury. We want the pop-up to be a place where the whole family can easily come together – and where parents might, for once, get to eat their lunch in peace,” Rintala says.
